Please continue to keep us in your prayers...
FOR THOSE WHO HAVE BEEN PRAYING FOR OTILIA:
Thank you for your prayers for Otilia, a sister in the congregation in Atotonilco.
She had open heart surgery and has almost fully recovered. She is acknowledging the Lord and doing better every day.
UPCOMING CONFERENCE:
The congregation in Atotonilco, together with the church in La Barca and Arandas, will sponsor the annual Family Bible Conference November 23 to 25. The event will be held in the Highlands, at a site yet to be determined. Intercession is needed for:
- An adequate site for the event. A location with the needed sleeping capacity, meeting capacity and within the cost structure is not easy to find.
- The coordination of responsibilities between the churches and the faithful fulfilling of those responsibilities.
- The attendance and participation.
- The long-lasting fruit of this event.
LEADERS RETREAT:
Westside Baptist Church in Yakima, WA and Bethel Church in Richland, WA. have together taken on the project of providing to church leaders in the Highlands and surrounding area a weekend retreat of ministry and refreshing. Last year's retreat was a time of blessing and encouragement, and this Nov. 1-3 (Thursday evening to Saturday afternoon) we anticipate the same. Please pray for the churches sponsoring this, for Elias Garcia, who is coordinating the retreat, for the many leaders who will be involved, for those who will be ministering over this weekend and for the logistics yet to be worked out here. Especially, pray that this will be a restful, edifying time of fellowship and renewal.
THE LOCAL GOVT. OF ATOTONILCO ASKS THE CHURCH FOR HELP:
The local government has asked the church in Atotonilco for help in getting water to two needy communities in the county. The government has asked that Amigos de Atotonilco, a ministry of the church here, assist in raising the funds drilling the two needed wells. You can help by:
- Praying that we will have wisdom about how and to what degree we should help in this project.
- Praying for the contact we have made with Living Water, a ministry out of Houston, TX that drills wells and assists in financing well-drilling projects for needy communities throughout the world.
- Praying for these two villages. We have contacts in both and would like to see churches established there. Is this well-drilling the Lord's open door to these communities?
The local government is participating in a federal program to build homes for the needy people in the county. The local government will put in the property, build roads and provide the services. The federal government will pay for the construction of the homes. The homes are then ÒsoldÓ at a cost of $80US a month for 5 years to qualifying families.
Recently, the mayor spoke to Steve Montgomery about a problem that is outside the parameters of this program: There are some families in the region for whom even the $80 is a hardship. He asked Steve if teams similar to those who have come for construction and community programs in the past might be able to build quick-assembly home like those built for disaster victims. The mayor speculated that 30 homes are needed. The local government will donate property for the homes and the mayor proposed that the recipients be determined by the local government and the church of Atotonilco in cooperation.
For this to happen, we need:
- Clear confirmation from the Lord.
- To find a ministry with experience in building quick-assembly homes who could sparkplug the teams that come from the US and around Mexico.
- Several teams from the US who can invest a week to ten days to two weeks in construction
SHIELD OF FAITH BOARD MEETING:
Shield of Faith Mission, Intl, to which Steve and Linda Montgomery belong, will hold their annual board meeting in Bend, OR. Oct. 25 - 27. Steve will be traveling to the area earlier in order to visit family and also accompany Misael Hernandez to Richland, Washington, where he will assist in an outreach to the Hispanic community. At the same time Linda will be visiting family and friends in Dallas, TX. She will be there at the time of Household of Faith's annual conference.
Please pray that:
- The SOF board meeting will be a time of refreshing and renewal for the entire board.
- Misael will be able to obtain his visa to the US for the visit to Washington.
- Visits to family will be blessed times for both Linda and Steve.
