Booher Bothers and the Barocio Sisters
The Booher Bothers, musicians who are well-known for their western music, were with us for a concert some months back. Since they spoke almost no spanish, we invited the Barocio sisters to join in the concert. The Barocio's were a name in ranchero music when the Lord gave them a new song. They have been singing the Good News now for many years. On a Sunday evening, with the plaza packed, the musicians stepped into the kiosk and held the audience spell-bound. First the Boohers, then the Barocios and finally the two groups together, sang the Good News with clarity. One of the Barocio sisters gave a stunning testimony of conversion, and we invited her husband to preach mid-concert. Here are some pictures of that night.

Missions Trip
This summer, a team from Bethel Baptist Church in Yakima, Washington came to our area. Half of the team worked with the Arandas Bible Church, where José and Luz are serving. The other half came to Atotonilco to help with a construction project in Rinconada de Cristo Rey, a small ranching community at the outskirts of the city.

Can you imagine a one-room schoolhouse for 25 to 35 students with no bathroom? Imagine also that the teacher lives in the classroom! Then imagine that in front of the school, what could be the play area is an undeveloped rocky slope leading down to a smelly, polluted stream in which the children play during recess. Our project: build a bathroom with shower, dig a septic tank and level the small school yard.

And do it all in a weeks time!

Here are the photos of the week. Brethren from Atotonilco joined the Bethel team, the local families provided the noon meal, the county government paid half of the price for the construction and the work was finished in time.

In the evenings we held evangelistic events, with preaching, testimonies and a film. Our intention is to offer " a cup of cold water in Jesus' name," making sure that both elements, the "cup" and the name of Jesus, are present.

We have been asked to consider a second project at this school: building a room on the roof for the teacher. The local government has indicated they will help with a part of the costs. Any team of workers out there who want to join us in this project?

A Tour of Our Home
For those who have asked about the house where we live, it is about 150 years old, with adobe walls 2 feet thick. It was part of a large hacienda in years gone by, but that hacienda has been divided and sub-divided until where we live is only a tiny part of the former construction. Here are some photos. Welcome to our home!
